며칠 전 동림매듭공방에서 전통매듭계승자 박진영 실장님과 인터뷰를 하고 왔어요!
We questioned "What's the reason to start working of knot?"
Knot is lineal succession of four descents in she's family. That's why she started.
맨 처음 매듭을 시작하게 된 계기에 관한 질문을 드렸는데요,
가업을 이어 벌써 4대째 매듭을 하고 있다고 합니다.
We could know knot's history and worth. She explained in detail.
매듭의 역사와 의미에 대해서도 알 수 있었어요. 자세히 설명해주셨답니다
"Human beings began to tie knots in their daily life. It has developed for decorative material in the Three Kingdom period, So they used knots for the decorative purpose to belts and religious event, Knots were used for everywhere because people set a high value on a courtesy in the Joseon Dynasty period.
Especially when they have special events, they always use knots. Because they believe that there should be polite to sedan chair, flag, umbrella, any musical instruments. It doesn’t matter whether there should be or not, however, people had to use knots that time. After Japanese colonial era, the culture of knots has been disappeared. Human cultural assets, Ms. Kim heejin, has tried to restore the culture of knots, Though we don’t know well, it is meaningful that Knots were used every time for a courtesy in the past. Besides, every knot has different meaning. Their names are usually from animals, plants, and things. If the name is “butterfly”, it means marital chemistry or long life. If the name is “dragonfly”, it means friendship."
매듭이 처음에는 생활에 필요에 의해서 시작됐어요. 끈을 묶는다거나
낚시를 한다거나. 그러다가 삼국시대에는 장식적인 부분으로 발전이 돼요. 그래서 허리띠나 종교 장식 등의 목적으로 사용 되다가 조선시대에는 예를 중시하게 되면서 매듭이 모든 곳에 쓰이게 됐죠. 특정 행사를 하게 되면 가마라던가 깃발, 우산, 각종 악기들에도 예가 있기 때문에 우리가 지금 양복을 입을 때는 넥타이를 하는 게 예의듯이 모든 것에 매듭이 항상 사용됐어요. 지금은 있어도 되고 없어도 되는 것으로 변했지만 그 당시에는 반드시 있어야 하는 거였어요. 그러다 일제강점기를 지나면서부터는 매듭 문화가 많이 없어졌고요. 그 뒤로 문화재 김희진 선생님께서 매듭 복원을 위해 많이 애쓰셨는데, 지금은 우리가 많이 모르고 있지만, 과거에는 복식의 예를 갖추기 위해
반드시 사용해야 하는 것이었다는 것에 가장 큰 의미가 있습니다. 또 매듭마다 상징하는 의미가 있어요. 동물 식물 사물의 이름을 본
딴 매듭의 이름이 있는데, 나비는 부부합이나 장수를 뜻하고, 잠자리는
우정을 뜻해요. 이런 식으로 매듭마다 가지고 있는 의미도 별도로 있어요.
The time was very precious that we heard Korea knot's history and worth.
한국 전통매듭의 역사와 가치에 대해 들을 수 있었던 소중한 시간이었어요.
